The activities of SQI are directed towards achieving improved productivity and profitability through the promotion of Quality Awareness and Quality Assurance. The targeted audience is the entire Quality community, those who are studying in tertiary institutions, preparing for work life and all the organisations in the manufacturing and service sectors40

Education and Training

Opportunities to participate in various education programmes, seminars and conferences. These are mostly at discounted rates. These are held regularly to raise members’ quality awareness and increase competency in the areas of Quality Assurance and Reliability.

Training Programmes

SQI offers the following training courses to all our members as well as other quality professionals. These courses are designed to upgrade the skills and knowledge of the participants. The Certified Quality Manager, the Certified Reliability Engineer, the Certified Quality Engineer and the Certified Six Sigma Black Belt also prepares participants to take the Certified Quality Manager, the Certified Reliability Engineer, the Certified Quality Engineer and the Certified Six Sigma Black Belt examinations administered by ASQ.

Evening Talks

SQI arranges evening talks, which are conducted by practicing Quality Managers, Consultants or Experts. These talks provide a forum for the dissemination of current practices and new techniques in the area of Quality Assurance. These talks also act as a catalyst for the cross fertilization of ideas amongst our members who are a wide representation of Quality professionals.

Interest Group Discussions

Interest Group sessions are organized in the evenings to provide opportunities for members to learn, share knowledge and experience and to network with other participants and industries. These sessions are usually on measurements and standards such as ISO and are facilitated by the Industry Experts.

Education/Learning Visits

SQI also organises regular education/learning visits to companies of excellence like the Singapore Police Force (SPF), Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), which are Singapore Quality Awards winners. These visits provide members with the opportunity to learn about quality programmes in these organisations

Publications

Free copies of the SQI Newsletter are issued regularly to members. This newsletter keeps track of the latest Quality related events in Singapore and provides an update on SQI’s training programmes, seminars and activities. An annual yearbook is also issued to members.

Social Activities

Members can participate in evening get-togethers, excursions and annual dinners at subsidised rates.
